Why do birds sing the same tune over and over again?

When I get up in the morning around 7 to go to school, one bird keeps repeating the same tune and then another bird in the distance sings the same one.. and they keep going back and forth. Then the tune speeds up at the end. I found it kind of interesting, but does anybody know exactly why they do this? It went on for several minutes...

When they sing their tune its their way of communicating to each other. The repeating aspect of it is almost like when we say " i love you" someone will say " i love you back to us" Chirping is used in that respect for mating and attracting the opposite sex.
