Was the Gary Connery wingman stunt real?

An article appeared on April 1 in the Sunday Times about a professional stuntman, Gary Connery who was aiming to use a wingman suit - looked a bit like a flying squirrel - to drop from 2,400ft and land without a parachute on 18,600 cardboard boxes in Henley-on-Thames. The article says 'this Thursday' yet there are no articles saying he has accomplished (or not) this feat. The going to do it article appeared on many sites, including the BBC. I know Gary Connery is a real person, and has done many of the things the article says he has, as well as Jeb Corliss, who also appeared in the article, has actually flown the Tianmen mountain gap. Was this an April fool?
