Why do the Guardians Of Plutocracy (GOP) consider higher education a luxury item reserved for the wealthy?
It is true that it is easier to fool the uneducated, and it is evidently true that the Republicans, also known as the Guardians of Plutocracy (GOP), do depend on that for their election to public office.
Republicans will allow the interest rate on student loans to double this July. This will deny higher education to many millions of middle class Americans while reserving higher education only for the wealthy.
America will not be able to compete globally without educating its populace; no nation could. There should not be any interest at all on student loans; it is a matter of national defense.
@Rockit and Arthur: Thanks for proving my point. Pathetic.
@STEVE S: Just which part is a "lib lie?" Is it that we cannot compete globally without educated people? Is it that it is a matter of national defense? Is it that the Guardians of Plutocracy will cause the interest rate to double in July? Is it that republicans need to keep the public uneducated so they can be fooled easier? Or is it just thoughts far above your comprehension leaving you with nothing to say that you do not understand so it must be a "lib lie." Are you so intellectually lazy that you have nothing more to say.

i had never read that definition of the gop but i like its description and it intstantly shows you know what is going on. unlike many of the con posters here. most republican voters are low information voters. you can be smart but still pay no attention or make the mistaken assumption that you dont have to check the actions not just words. i agree that in the long term its senseless. but its easier to maintain control. distracting us with discussions of flag pins how insulting! but you can look at stats only about 20 percent of us have higher education. you can be smart without college of course but most people dont even read after they finished school
the memo on plutocracy in the captialism movie says it all. lack of awareness makes it continue

There is no proveable correlation between the children of higher income earners and intelligence. So if those high income earners want their children to succeed in life, a level playing field would not be in their best interests. They use their power to tilt the field in their childrens' favor, by making higher education unaffordable for less wealthy (but perhaps more gifted) students.
You are correct that the country would benefit more by developing the talents of ALL its citizens, and it's a part of our egalitarian tradition anyway. That means very little to modern Republicans, though. They just want to win, not to play fair.

Since all kinds of people from all kinds of socioeconomic backgrounds go to college, I know several people who have the government paying for their community college courses in basic algebra because they weren't paying attention in high school and now have the government paying for them to learn the stuff we covered in 8th and 9th grade.
Nice...we pay idiots to attend "college"
