Do most Hunters respect the animals they kill?

I'm not anti hunting, just wanted to know.

There are dumbasses that go into the woods and shoot things for the sake of shooting them; in my eyes these people are not hunters and I hope that they do not tarnish your view of real hunters.

I respect most of the animals I kill, the ones I do not respect are animals most non-hunters would also kill, like rats, mice etc.

Hunters in earnest should do the utmost to minimize the suffering of an animal. There's a reason more people hunt deer with a bolt action .308 than a .22 LR and it's not because a .22 is incapable, it has done it in the past and killed larger animals than deer (many meat processing facilities will use .22 shorts to kill a cow for processing), it's because the .308 will stop the deer faster and is more likely to guarantee the animal goes down where it stands, the added benefit of using "excessive" force with an animal is you don't have to chase a wounded/frightened animal.
This is something that separates many poachers from a real hunter in my eyes.

Most hunters want a clean kill, trying to kill the animal instantly. They don't want it to suffer. And many eat their kills and even give away what they can't eat to food banks, etc. so it's not wasted.

So yes, I would say so.

Most.... Not all many enjoy hunting. After everything I shoot when I hunt I give alittle prayer to it and thank God for the animal.
