how do you do a trading area analysis?

Im in DECA at my school and have no clue how to do the trading area analysis...help?

    this website gives you a pretty good idea of what is involved. Essentially you want to analyze sectors of the city, state or what ever to see where is the best place to place your business. In your case opening a hair salon...you would not want it in an area that was industrial in nature...you might not want it in an area with a lot of competition from other salons...if you operate a trendy hair salon you would not want it in an area with a lot of retirement communities.....stuff like that
