What are your thoughts on racism?

im curious as to what you guys think about racism today and in the previous eras. in my personal opinion i think that racism was always around...first with the Irish coming into America after it was founded they would label them as "different", then Blacks after being put into slavery, and a lot more...

Muslims in general get a bad name in the western world, but that's religious bigotry not racism as Muslims can be of any race. The American treatment of the Irish wasn't racism either because all parties involved were of the same race. That was classism - the incoming Irish were poor and had huge families that generally ended up needing some kind of aid. Virtually everything we call racism today has to do with class. Wealthy people of all races are well treated. It's usually the lower classes of any given race that have problems.

Racism extends farther back than just with the Irish- think of ancient Egypt, and the slaves. Racism has always existed, because people fear what is different from them. Whenever a human being is led to believe that a difference can lead to superiority, they grasp it and hold to it- just look at the laundry list of psych experiments. They had that classroom of kids, the teacher told them that blue-eyed children were naturally smarter, all the smart people in the world had blue-eyes, and brown-eyed people were evil. Kids who had been friends immediately began to exclude and harass all the kids with the brown-eyes.

Racism is just inside of human nature, just like killing, lust, etc. The fact is, humans are (mostly) intelligent beings, and can overcome our ignorance and our fears. Most racists are raised inside of a racist home, or have had one bad, isolated experience.

Fun fact, they now have a syndrome for people who are incapable of distinguishing between race- I forgot what it was called, but it's like the next stage of evolution- I hope.

It is a burden and we as a human race will never move forward because such a pitiful thing is holding us back.
