Independent, Dependent Variables, constants... science experiement?

I have a science project due tomorrow and my teacher isn't very good at explaining things nad i'm sort of panicing. Can anyone tell me the independent, dependent variables and constants in this experiment?

The experiment's purpose question is:

What affect does the type of chocolate chip have on how fast it melts when heated in the microwave?

There are 10 chocolate chips and three types. Please help

    Variables: melt time and type of chip

    Which variable is independent and which one is dependent?

    Does melt time depend on the type of chip or

    does the type of chip depend on melt time?

    Constants don't change.

    The number of chocolate chips is 10.
