Historically, has any nation ever survived multiculturalim and mass immigration?

These two things are between the leading causes of the DEATH of great civilizations, such as the roman empire. Has ANY nation ever survived diversity, multiculturalism and mass immigration??? I DON`T THINK SO.

No! Recently my stepson told me I was being racist because I told him to stop eating with his mouth open like a Jamaican. I had to explain that Jamaicans aren't a race and that the indigenous population have been completely absorbed by European and west African incomers.

And before anyone kicks off, I'm well aware of the history and the slave trade but the result was the same regardless of how or why the people got there. A population can only assimilate incomers at a rate of between five and ten percent, after that you just create culture-less mongrels.

There are many countries that have successfully survived this.
-America (on of the only examples I have that was actually created this way)
-Australia (another example that was created this way)
-Germany
-New Zealand
-I'm pretty sure South Africa
-Canada
-Spain
-France
-Ireland
-Sweden
-Saudi Arabia
-Kazakhstan
and many many more that I can't think of...

All of these countries have at least 40-50% population of a different origin then their own country and America and Australia would be in the 90-98% region!

For the record I also disagree with tom and think that a country is only as strong as it's people and even though the people who founded a country may be this and that we're all human and we don't need to put a label on one species and divide it up into different categories because that is how racism starts... If you mix a person who lets say is Asian with a person who lets say is Black there is still a remanding piece of Black and of Asian and it wouldn't really matter because in the next 100 years most people won't be white in the first place and the average family will be of many many different things just like me even though I'm like 9 different parts European!

Ever heard of the Persian Empire. Probably the most successful empire in human history aside from the Roman and British Empires. They THRIVED for centuries through multiculturalism. The Persians would conquer a city or state and basically allow them to continue to govern themselves with their own traditions as long as they paid their taxes and provided troops. Not to mention the cities and states were also provided with advanced Persian infrastructure and protection.

I agree. I don't see what's wrong with wanting to keep your country homogenous. I mean some immigration is fine, as long as they are talented or truly deserve refugee status.

I honestly would have preferred it if Canada had 80% less immigrants. I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to preserve your country and it's history. In 50-100 years most people here are not even going to be caucasian, which is fine, but Canada is here because of white european immigrants.

What happens when everyone is some mixed race that has no name? We won't have any identity anymore. We will be Canadian still, but the people in the history book will not look like us. I fear the history of this country won't matter anymore.

There is a reason we are all different ethnicities etc, and when we mix together, we essentially EXTERMINATE those ethnicities.

It will be a sad day when you go to Japan and people aren't even really Japanese anymore, and are mixed up with white/black/chinese/hispanic etc. I know that won't happen for a long time but that's where we're headed.

It will be sad when I go to South America and there are barely any south americans left, and everyone is mixed up.

I think it's sad if I travel to England, that tons of people are not even really english. In 200 years, I doubt there will be many real english people left. It's sad.

We're all different for a reason. It's great to have all of these different areas of the world that are so different in culture and ideas, etc. When we mix ourselves all together, we're going to lose that.....It's going to disappear, and if you don't think so, you're mistaken.

Controlled small amounts of skilled immigrants is fine. Just don't hand them citizenship 5-10 years into living here when they have more allegiance to their home country than here. Lots of people come here simply for the free healthcare and free schooling. I know some chinese people who love China and have no love for this country, and only came here for school and healthcare. Lots of them don't even live here most of the time, they stay in china until they have a health crisis and come back and use our healthcare because hospitals in china are so expensive.

That type of thing should not be allowed...

And when it comes to refugees we should not give everyone with a good story refugee status and citizenship. Refugees should not be given citizenship. They should be given long-term residency status which would mean they can stay here FOREVER as long as they do not commit a crime.

I think that is the smartest thing we can do. Control immigration tightly. Don't just accept everyone. Compassionate, but do not leave yourself vulnerable to people abusing immigration.

Yes, India, which is multicultural.

There are many languages spoken in India and more than one religion which is followed. Also immigration into India does take place.
