Why did Florida State Attorney Angela Corey decide a grand jury will not be convened in the Zimmerman case?

If she was planning to not charge Zimmerman don't you think she would rather have a grand jury to blame rather than risk the wrath of the angry mob?

Because of the lack of proof. It does not mean the case is dead. If the grand jury meets on it and it fails to show a crime, then the issue is dead. This way the charges will always be hanging over Zimmerman.

A grand jury indictment is not required and she rarely calls for one unless the evidence is overwhelmingly clear there was premeditation. This is still an ongoing investigation.

Because nobody believes it was premeditated murder. If it is, you don't call the cops before you do it. The likely charge for Zimmerman, if one is brought, would be manslaughter, and you don't need a grand jury for that.
