how can my child qualify for the earned income credit in illinois?

i had my baby feb.2011 i only worked jan2011 so i got a w-2 form for that month im trying to file myself online and i was told that you gt 1,000 for every child you have but when i finish filing i dont get that returnn why not? this is my first time filling my daughter is it because i am not currently working or what im confused lpease help

    Try the following web site which is maintained by the Illinois Department of Revenue.

    The child tax credit is a maximum 1k but you need at least 3k in earned income to get any at all. EIC is based on your income. Very little income very little credit.
