Is an ontario G1 license (learners permit) a card?
I know when you first pass the written test you get a temporary G1 license which is paper but do you eventually get a card or do you need to wait until you get a G2 license?

Yes, you will get a regular license similar to what you've seen others have. The only difference will be that it'll say "Class: G1". Whenever you are issues a new license you receive a temporary slip of paper until you get your new one in the mail. This happens when you upgrade your license (e.g. to a G2) or renew it.
Just remember you cannot drive a vehicle after dark with a G1, you cannot have any alcohol in your blood and there must always be a G driver with you in the vehicle in the passengers seat.
Another interesting fact - you wouldn't need to be on an insurance policy (e.g. your parents) if you are driving vehicles regularly until you have your G2.

It relies upon on the state you stay in. In Texas, you may want to have your let suspended, and would not be eligible to practice for a license for a 12 months. i'd assume, maximum states have similar guidelines. besides the undeniable fact that, some states also enable you to practice immediately for an entire license with no need to carry a learner's let if you're over 18.
