Vince Carter is older than the players, and unlike the answer where it says "the Magic don't care about championships...", there was also another reason. Last year, the three big Magic players were Rashard Lewis, Vince Carter, and Dwight Howard. Now the three biggest stars on the team are Hedo Türkoğlu, Jason Richardson, and Dwight Howard. How did the Magic get Hedo Türkoğlu, and Jason Richardson? They acquired them both in the deal that sent Vince Carter to the Suns. The Magic were really interested in bringing back Hedo Türkoğlu because he was such great friends with Howard, and good buds with Jameer Nelson, as well as a few others. The Magic loved having Hedo on the team because everyone loved him. Richardson was a great player, and a strict scorer, as he proves it every night. The Magic also got a young, possible stud in Earl Clark. Clark might not have worked well in Phoenix, but he has a great future and I think he will be a great player. The Magic brought in the players that fit well with Stan Van Gundy's system, and the play of Howard. Howard is so boxed up, and double teamed in the paint, that they need outside scorers with high consistency. Yes, Carter can hit three's, but the personalities are the biggest difference. Plus, I see Carter's age in play here as a good reason too, as well as salary money.
