Yes I think the support will lessen even more for the 3rd wavers...I was in a bookstore and on the bargain table was the book 'Who Stole Feminism?" by Christina Hoff Sommers, for a dollar...the title intrigued me, 'How women betrayed Women' I could certainly relate...so that was the first time I gave the entire issue any deep thought...it was an eye opening book. I felt, as all women do, if a woman wants to do something and is capable, she should be able to do it...no affirmative action laws, just ability. And that the issues concerning public domain (equal pay, etc.) had been addressed and women were in good shape. The thought that feminism wanted to interfere with the private lives of men and women made me angry, how dare they?

So a non-feminist was born out of a woman totally uninterested in feminism before...

You men on this forum know more about feminism than I do...all I knew is I stumbled onto a good read and it influenced how I looked at a political group, which is what they are now...non profit, special interest feminism...my region was getting a belly full of non-profits at the time, they dove onto the Hurricane Katrina aftermath in a feeding frenzy...one thing leads to another, I call it sychronicity, we learn about a thing when the time is right for us to learn it...

Main reasons that I could think of based on what I've read/observed -

1/ Equity Feminists like Dr. Christina Hoff Sommers did men and boys a GREAT service by dissecting the lies, misinterpretations, and paranoia that was being spread by mainstrean "Gender Feminists" [CHS' terminology], which dealt a massive blow to the popularity of Feminism.

2/ Men and women these days ARE born into equal environments [at least in the west] - boys and girls are for the most part treated equally by their parents and the society - so the loud bleating by victim mentality Feminists raises alarm among the younger generation who compare Feminist notes with their real lives and see less and less resemblance to what Feminists say.

3/ Many of the anti-male measure advocated and pushed for by mainstream Feminist activists did not/do not sit well with normal women [that is women who aren't Feminists]. They see their fathers, brothers, husbands and sons being affected by discriminatory affirmative action for women which are pushed for by Feminists, and this definitely doesn't augur well for the Feminist image.

It's the same reason why the Free Silver Movement dissipated. They are no longer needed because much of their original goals are either reached or no longer necessary. The goals that are too radical do not sit well with the normal populace, so their strength is weakened. So, in a sense, they don't exist anymore because they already won.

The feminist movement was started by women who thought men had it a lot better than women, but when men gave up chivalry and started treating them like men they changed their minds.
