    (2 x 10^5)^-1

Get rid of the negative exponent by making the whole into a fraction

    1 / (2 x 10^5)

Make the numerator into scientific notation

    (1 x 10^0) / (2 x 10^5)

    Divide

    .5 x 10^-5

Move the decimal and add to the exponent

    Answer is 5 x 10^-6
