The uniform diving board has a mass of 32 kg. Distance from A to B = 0.9m. Distance from B to end of the board = 4m.

Find the force on the support A when a 75 kg diver stands at the end of the diving board. The acceleration of gravity is 9.81 m/s2 .

The support must provide an upward force equal to the total weight. This is g*(32 + 75) = 1.05kN.

However, for equilibrium, the support must also apply a torque which equilibrates the sum of the moments of the weight of the board and that of the diver. But since the required answer has units of N, it seems that you are not being asked about this torque (which would have units of Nm).
