Red, Yellow & Blue is one of the 5 ways to make brown.
The others are: Red&Green, Blue&Orange, Yellow&Purple and Black&Red.
.................p.s. Black&Yellow make Olive Green. : )Source(s): Lifelong Artist, Musician & Instructor.

Well Alizarin Red is kinda purple-ish anyway. Mix that with a blue and see what happens. Add a lil bit of white to it to lighten it up. I haven't painted in a while tho... what kind of blues are you using? That could be throwing you off. You should try French UltraMarine blue with a red and see what happens.
