How can I access my router settings?
I have the latest version of macbook. Recently, I have tried portforwarding. The beginning involves access your router settings, which in youtube videos and online instructions, it seems you can simply punch in your IP address and it pops up. I can't do that. Suggestions? Is there a different way to access these settings on a mac?

To access your router setup, use a Internet browser from a Ethernet connected PC.
The Key here is Ethernet connected (Hard Wired). You can not use a wireless connection to configure a router that you can't connect to.
Netgear routers and D-Link routers usually a have default IP address http://192.168.0.1
Linksys routers usually have a default IP address http://192.168.1.1
Belkin routers usually have a default router address http://192.168.2.1
If you have a different type of router, do a search for "your-router-name default IP"
Type this in your browser and the router menu login screen should come up.
You'll need a login and password, which will still be the default for your router model unless someone has changed them, in which case you would have to reset your modem to factory default state in order to be able to configure it.

Type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 and see if router settings open. Or go to 'Network settings' and look up these kind of IP addresses.
