ABEC numbers are meaningless for skates or boards. It is a vibration standard for industrial equipment that is equivalent to speeds over 200 mph on your board. It might matter if you were going that fast.

ABEC is an easy way to make a bearing sound good and most companies hype the number because it sounds important to most people.

Some of the better companies (Zero Drag, Bones, Twin Cam) have designed their better bearings to be better for skates and boards by violating the ABEC specs. They will usually have a high number as part of their name but they won't say that they are ABEC rated.

After ABEC 5 rating, it goes ABEC 7. Try looking for Bone Swiss ABEC 7 bearings, they go really fast.

If there isn't Bone Swiss, try asking at a local skate shop for any other good bearings that are rated ABEC 7, they cost like $5 dollars more expensive.
