Try dampening the back of the canvas with water, especially at the dent. Then try drying it out with a blow dryer. Do not hold the blow dryer too close to the canvas, the dryer will overheat and die.
Check to see if the canvas came with corner shims, those little triangle wedges. You might need to use those as well. See http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200...

Abs. don't put gesso on it, it will make the dent only stronger. Answer #2 is almost right. After you do what it says(blower...) and if the dent improved(more shallow), than you have to dampen it again, but this time with 2 blotters on each side and hot iron over with light to heavy pressure, shifting blotters a bit and re-ironing and it should be ok.
You did not specify how sharp and deep is the dent, at least it should not deep and sharp, if soft dome dent, than even deeper can be flatten out....Source(s): did that often enough times...

Has it already been prepared (gesso or other )? Either way, the canvas should stretch as it dries, hopefully straightening the dent. You might try applying some gesso to the backside, also.
Hope it helps!
