Look to Science Fiction for real escapism and a range that will boggle most minds. When I was your age I was lost in many strange and wonderful worlds.

Some of my most favourite books were

The Lensmen Series (7 books) E.E. Doc Smith (a real space saga of epic proportions)

The Voyage of the Space Beagle - A.E. Van Vogt

I Robot, and, The Rest of the Robots - I. Asimov

The Kraken - (can't remember at the moment)

...and a multitude of others too numerous to mention or do proper justice to.

Most of the modern Science Fiction novels are more fantasy than reality, although Science Fiction is most definitely fiction, it is based on science fact and the best Scientific thoughts of the day by authors well versed in such.
