# Question about a repeating decimal?

If .3 (repeating) is equal to (1/3), then 3 * (.3 (repeating)) equals 1, right?

Common sense tells me that its equal to .99999 (repeating) and not 1.

I think it has something to do with .3 not being continuous in a series or something, but I cant quite figure this out. Anyone care to offer insight?
