Chevy is the most dependable car company out there. It is normal for a well taken car to reach 300,000 plus miles. It all depends on how well it is maintained. My Pontiac has 178,000, runs better than new and it's a 96. I also have a 93 Cavalier with 427,652 miles on it. Runs great..Source(s): I'm a Doctor

No, that isn't normal. Most of these were disposable cars that didn't even last five years and 100,000 miles.
Lots of these cars didn't do well because of neglect, because they were bought by poor people and rental companies and got thrashed. But a certain amount is to do with the crappy and dated design. Except for a bit of sheet metal and plastic, they are the same cars as the 1982 models.
