Relevance

100% always equals the total so for us that is 1200 sections

when we say 40% it is not a number unless there wer only 100 total then that is 40 out of 100= 40/100

so to find percents when we don't have a total of 100 we have to divide, say there are 60 out of 80

that is 60/80= 0.75 which when we convert to percent 0.075 X 100% becomes 75%

Our problem 30/1200=0.025 and 0.025 X 100% = 2.5%

• Hi, the answer is 25%

% is based on 100 so 25/100 or 0.025 x 1200 = 30 the total broken or missing peaces...

0.025 x 1200 =30

After another day of looking at this 25% is too high...

The other answers below are correct 2.5% I had the decimal point in the wrong place opps…

Source(s): base math for % use x or multiply...
• 30/(1200/100)=2.5 30/(12), 2*12=24 from 30 leaves 6, 6 is one half of 12, 2 and one half is 2.5

2) 2 1/2 percent

• percent=30/1200*100=100/40=10/4=5/2=2.5%
