What does "absent peritoneal signs" mean?

When "absent peritoneal signs" is listed as a symptom of a disorder, what does that term mean?

In response to Sebastien: I think you're probably right. But, for example, symptoms for Porphyria include both "abdominal pain" and "absent peritoneal signs." How is that possible?

it means your abdomen is soft, not tender and there's no rebound tenderness.

peritoneal signs are bad and warrant further investigations/admission to hospital. the absence of such signs is reassuring.
