# Ratio Maths questions?

A Find the value for X

X:1/2 = 1:4

B Divide the following quantities in the ratio given

a \$5000 in the ratio 2:3

b 6000g in the ratio 2 : 3 : 7

c 600 cm in the ratio 1: 0.5

Relevance

A Find the value for X

X:1/2 = 1:4

4x= 1/2

x= 1/8

B Divide the following quantities in the ratio given

a \$5000 in the ratio 2:3==> 2000:3000

b 6000g in the ratio 2 : 3 : 7==> 1000:1500: 3500

c 600 cm in the ratio 1: 0.5==>400:200

• A)

X/0.5 = 1/4

4X = 0.5

X = 0.125

B)

5000/3 = 1666.67

To get 2/3 or 2:3... (5000/3 x 2)/(5000/3 * 3) = 3333.33/5000

Do the same for the others

• x:1/2=1:4

so 2x:1=1:4

so 2x=1/4

so x=1/8=0.125

a>taking x as the constant multiple of given ratio factors..

2x+3x=5000

5x=5000

x=1000

so 2x:3x=2*1000:3*1000

so 2x:3x=2000:3000

so ratio is 2000:3000

b> similarly;

2x+3x+7x=6000

x=500

so

2x:3x:7x=1000:1500:3500

is the ratio

c>similarly

1x+0.5x=600

2x+1x=1200

x=400

so the ratio is 400:200

NOTE: here the units like\$,g,cm will not come as the ratio is taken between same quantities and s the ratio is constant(ie. Unitless or dimensionless)...
