what causes car to jerk when braking?

I have a 2000 Chrysler LHS and it has a high idle. Well when I go to stop after the car has had a chance to warm up it jerks really bad. Can that be because of the high idle or something else? A friend of mine says its the transmission. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

it could be because of the high idle but how high is the idle? also check your trans mount. Go through the gears from park to low gear slowly and see if it jerks really hard or if the engine is shaking during idle it could be a bad engine mount or trans mount. good luck
