Can anyone recommend any good metal bands?
style doesn't bother me much (although i don't want anything ending in -core)
i'd prefer stuff from the 80s but if it's more modern it's ok
i've heard most of the really well known bands people are suggesting, i want something more obscure (too specific? lol)

Have you tried Deftones? Some of their earlier stuff is good, and their newer stuff is heavy... Not sure if it's metal though. Also Bad Brains, they're pretty old school and fast paced. It really depends on what you consider metal...
