What will happen if I add more RAM to my laptop?

I have an acer aspire 5742 and it has 4gb ram and I want more so I can play games with less lag but I'm worried if it will brake my laptop. Also how much can I add without it braking.

Upgrading memory can be a difficult thing. Since you have to remove your laptop's case, unscrewing those tiny screws, until you get the memory. You can ask Acer's support to upgrade it, but with a cost.

If you want to do it yourself, you must first know if your laptop supports it. Most laptops has 4GB RAM as the highest, I don't know if the Acer Aspire can handle more.

I dont think it can break, only become faster. It might make it over heat but id just go with 6 or 8Gb RAM.
