How does 'weight watchers' work?

It's basically portion control combined with making smarter choices. It does work, but it's kind of silly. I don't need to be told I can eat apples and carrots; common sense tells me that's smarter than a Big Mac. But using WW, you're given a set number of points you can consume each day and week, and then you have to memorize how many points are in any given food.
I've never done it because I think it's silly (but it does work, I do concede that). I lost 70 pounds just using portion control and counting calories and exercising. Very easy.
