help me estimate the cost of fuel?

any approximation would be helpful. i'm gonna be in a full sized van, which'll prolly guzzle gas, idk. driving around for the summer. altogether i'll be going allll the way across the usa and back, but definitely not just point-a-to-point-b, lots of zig-zagging and prolly circles. seriously, any kind of approximation. am i looking at the hundreds or thousands for gas?

Say you do 10,000 miles and your van does 10 miles to the gallon, your van would burn 10,000/10 = 1000 gallons of fuel.

Say a gallon costs $1.50 on average, you'll spend 1000 x 1.50 = $1,500 just for fuel. Add some more money for engine oil and other consumables to be on the safe side.

If you have different figures (total mileage, van's mpg and avg. gas price), plug them into the formulas above and you'll have a more realistic estimate.
