Meaningful Music™: Did mix tapes mean more than mix CDs?

Back in the old days when I made someone a mix tape it took hours as opposed to today where I can click on the songs I want included and burn a CD in five minutes. Is the importance of a mix tape and a mix CD the same (a measure of the appropriateness of the music included) or was the mix tape more meaningful because of the extra work that went into making it?

Update:

Could be better, could be worse. (((Toker)))

Nah babby....it was the thought & consideration of tunes that make the mixed tape/cd special...not how long it takes to dub or burn....

Hope all is well (((Willy TK)))
