When we perfect carbon nano tubes this might become a reality. this would drastically reduce the cost of space travel at the present moment it cost something like $10,000 to put one pound of anything into space.

the future of space travel lies in quantum -electronics and a radically new type of vehicle. I describe this in my book and I also describe how such a craft may be built, powered , and operated.

I think that may be one avenue... but not the complete horizon.
