whats a good site to practice trading stocks?

I got a paid internship and will be making a few thousand bucks. I was interested in trying to earn a little extra by trading some stock, nothing major but enough to make my money work for me a little bit.

problem is, I really don't know anything about it. is there any good sites out there that use the real stock market but maybe fake money and you can make your own fake portfolio?

For practice .. try Google Finance [free]... Load a bunch of stocks you are interested in. Make some make believe investments. Follow them from day to day you will see..Then use one of the low dollar trade services .. E-trade or something similar. I use USAA but that is not open to the public.

When you click on a stock in Google it will go to a separate page .. you will see news. Keep track of news items. Some can be important.

    For terminology try here...

    http://www.sec.gov/investor.shtml

There ... you are way ahead of me from where I started 2 years ago.

Here is another site .. kind of tells you if the market will be up or down for the start of the day.

http://money.cnn.com/data/premarket/index.html Watch England and Germany at the start of our day .. most of the time we sort of follow them.

    Good luck
