Can you drown by drinking too much water?

    No. Not by drinking water. When you drink too much water, because there is a higher concentration of water in your gut than in your cells, water moves into your cells and causes them to burst. This is what caused the death of the person in the link posted by Chauncey and Jennifer - not drowning.

    Drowning occurs when your lungs completely fill with water.

    Actually you can not drown by drinking to much water unless you are stuck under water. All the people that are saying yes are wrong.

    Yes there was once a woman in San Francisco that was in a water drinking contest and she drank water to fast and to much that she just drownt from it
