Like Global Thermonuclear War, the only winning move is not to play. If you spend more than a few minutes editing any Wikipedia article, it is inevitable that some idiot will come along and completely throw out your changes because:
a) They think you're a banned user trying to circumvent a ban,
b) They think they know everything there is to know about a subject, more than the so-called "experts,"
c) Their finger slipped on the rollback button, or
d) No good reason at all.
If your response to an unjustified revert is anything other than walking away, you will get sucked into an edit war.
So if you are really knowledgeable about a certain topic and want to share your knowledge with the world, there are much better ways than Wikipedia: think about blogs, e-books, HARO, guest lectures at public libraries, etc.
