Israel, has a far superior Air Force and missile defense which are key. The distance is huge but the Israelis would have a better shot of invading Iran than Iran has of invading Israel. The Iranians could never mount an offensive ground campaign into Israel. The Syrians and Egyptians both struggled to do so.

As Sun Tzu points out: "Do not attack an enemy that has the high ground" he also says "Do not attack an enemy that is cornered" and Israel would be cornered with her back to the sea.

Israel and Iran do not have the capability to wage war against each other.

Have you looked at a mid east map ?

    2. They can attack each other with missiles and aircraft, thats about it.

But they have no way to move ground troops into the other nation

There are just to many countries in between.

In my opinion, based on recent military events there is no way Israel could beat Iran or even come close to it. The Israeli military got their butts royally kicked in Lebanon by hezbollah which is not even a country it is a paramilitary faction. The Israeli IDF could not mount an expeditionary force to nearby Lebanon. The IDF is highly overrated and their myth and legend is not borne out by actual results. In a conventional war with Iran the IDF would lose badly.
