Where did the term "low key" come from?
I had a party a few days ago for the holiday. I mentioned that it was going to be very "low key". Any idea where it came from?

From music - lower keys are softer, mellower and less flashy sounding. They often form the harmony or backing.

It actually comes from a photography term.
