A lot of people are saying gender makes a difference, as in men look at Moon/Venus for whom they are attracted to and women look at Sun/Mars. In men's chart, the Moon and Venus mean the same as it does in a woman's chart, but it can also represent women in their lives as well.
Moon= Emotion, Emotional Needs, Needs, Stability
Venus= How well we relate to others, how we are like in love, what we want in love, what we love, and what we love in a relationship.
Mars= How we assert ourselves, our drive, ambitions, our anger and frustration; our sex drive and what we are sexually attracted to.
Sun= Our core ego and core personality.
When people talk about gender, it's like saying that some of these planets do not matter depending on what sex you are. Anyway, yes, men and women do grow up thinking differently due to both biological make up and sociological influences. The latter is the more prominent factor in how we think, but biology is relevant to some extent. We aren't wild animals in the forest or anything, so we do think with both logic and emotion, rather than just instinct.
Anyway, I do think the Sun and Mars can represent men in a woman's life, but not necessarily who she is attracted to. It may be true to some degree in some women, but not all. The same can be said about men. However, this is NOT a reason to disown your own Mars or Sun qualities if you're a lady, or to disown your Moon/Venus qualities if you're a man. Sometimes I feel as though some people just look at certain placements that way.
Anyway, I am a Scorpio Venus and an Aries Mars. I'm not attracted to Aries-types of guys. I am more attracted to water and earth types of dudes. I like a guy who is responsible and trustworthy, but also empathetic and willing to go to emotional depths with me. I do not like dare devil, blunt, obnoxious types. I actually dont get along too well with other men who are as fire dominated as I am.
Water helps me feel. Earth keeps me focused on my goals. I see those elements as what I lack sometimes.
When it comes to men and women, synastry can also help much more than looking at your natal aspects. It's best to look at Mars-Venus synastry both ways. Mars-Moon is also an interesting thing to look at too.
I have an Aries Mars and my boyfriend has a Leo Venus. They are trine in synastry. My boyfriend has a Taurus Mars and I have a Scorpio Venus. They are not a synastry aspect, but I do think it matters, and the two signs can be compatible.
