Can i switch from Reserves to Active Duty in the Marine Corps?

If i can switch from Reserves to Active Duty do i keep the MOS i was in the Reserves or do i get assigned a new one? My plan is since you can only pick your MOS field in Active Duty, i was going to go to Reserves where you can pick your MOS and then transfer to Active Duty with the MOS i picked. Will this work?

I wouldn't advise doing that. Switching from Reserves to AD is hard enough as it is. The variables are not in your favor.

You're better off going AD first. Besides, you can guarantee a field (like 03XX Infantry, which is probably what you're looking for in the USMC, amirite?) while the specific MOS (like 0311 Rifleman) is assigned to you during bootcamp.

If you do or don't get a guarantee is irrelevant. To switch to active duty would require you to take some tests to see what you are truly qualified to do. They assign you to wherever and whatever they want you to do if you don't have that guarantee with you.

When you are old enough to enlist ask a recruiter
