I'm a DJ, How do I get my name really out there?

I'm known around town and the area by friends and others. But I was wondering how to be known by producers and companys/clubs. Appreciate the answers.

Start working social media tools to promote yourself, e.g., Facebook. And by 'working' them I mean you actively try to recruit people, not just post and then leave. Someone you know out there knows a producer, or knows someone who does. Get some examples of your work up online where people can see what you do, e.g., on YouTube. Once you have some leads, you can start showing up in person.
