What animal is a metaphor of Abe Lincoln?

I'm trying to brainstorm for an art project I'm doing...I need to do a metaphorical representation of Lincoln, and I think I want to compare him to some sort of animal..

A wise owl.

Just an idea, you could show a tree standing over an 1860's map of the U.S., on a tree limb an ole wise owl looking at the map and wearing a Lincoln beard and stove pipe hat.
