Should this be (g/4) - 6 = 12

if so

g/4 = 12 + 6

g/4 = 18

g = 18 * 4

g = 72

p/3 = 16.5 - 6.2

p/3 = 10.3

p = 3 * 10.3

p = 30.9

3x - 4 = 24

3x = 24 + 4

3x = 28

x = 28/ 3

x = 9 and 1/3

this may sound IDIOTIC to some people, but for this level of math it IS NOT

the idea is to leave the variable ALONE on one side of the equal sign

to do this, each time, apply the OPPOSITE operation to the one your addressing

if there's an addition, apply subtraction and vice-versa; for multiplication go with division

g / 4 - 6 = 12

add 6 :

g / 4 - 6 + 6 = 12 + 6 <=> g / 4 = 18

multiply by 4

(g / 4) * 4 = 18 * 4 <=> g * (4/4) = 72 <=> g * 1 = 72 <=> g = 72

p / 3 + 6.2 = 16.5

subtract 6.2

p / 3 + 6.2 - 6.2 = 16.5 - 6.2

p / 3 = 10.3

multiply by 3

(p / 3) * 3 = 10.3 * 3 <=> p * (3 / 3) = 30.9 <=> p * 1 = 30.9 <=> p = 30.9

3x - 4 = 24

add 4

3x - 4 + 4 = 24 + 4

3x = 28

divide by 3

(3x) / 3 = 28 / 3 <=> x * (3/3) = 9.3333.... <=> x * 1 = 9.3333.... <=> x = 9.3333....

Okay i'll do a step by step procedure for you:

g/4 - 6 = 12

+6 +6

You add 6 to both sides.

g/4 = 18

Now you multiply 4 by both sides.

g/4x4 = 18x4

It cancels out the 4 on the left hand side

Now you have the solution:

g = 72

p/3 + 6.2 = 16.5 (is similar to the equation above)

-6.2 -6.2

Instead you subtract 6.2 from each side to cancel out 6.2 with -6.2

p/3 = 10.3

now do what you before (multiply both sides by 3):

p/3x3 = 10.3 x 3

p = 30.9

As for the last equation:

3x - 4 = 24

You add 4 to both sides as shown:

3x - 4 = 24

+ 4 +4

3x = 28

Now you divide 3 from the variable so the variable is alone.

3x/3 = 28/3

x = 28/3 (28 over 3) is your answer.

so some number divided by 4 is worth 18, (cuz 18-6=12)

72 divided by 4 is 18

well, 28-4 is 24

You need to isolate the unknowns (get them on their own) and remember you must do the same thing to both sides of an equals sign.

g/4 - 6 = 12 (start by adding 6 to both sides)

g/4 = 18 (then multiply both sides by 4)

g = 18x4

g = 72

you could also do it the other way around

g/4 - 6 = 12 (multiply both sides by 4)

g - 24 = 48 (then add 24 to both sides)

g = 48 + 24

g = 72

same answer
