8 = 2^3
so 8^3 = (2^3)^3 = 2^9
when you have the same base and are dividing, just subtract the exponents:
(2^9) / (2^5) = 2^(9-5) = 2^4
now you have (2^4)^2 = 2^8
you've used two basic rules:
1) a^m / a^n = a^(m-n)
2) (a^m)^n = a^(mn)
that's it! ;)
