The limbic system is still clumps of neurons. If that's what you're calling a spirit, then your definition of "spirit" is something material which can, and does, start to decay upon death.

Which begs the question as to what makes "spirit" different from matter in the first place.

Your spirit (soul) is separate from your body.

Therefore, your limbic system has nothing to do with your spirit (soul) either.

By the way, notice how Yahoo spellchecker doesn't agree with any form of "limbic"?

No. You see, the cortex and limbic system are REAL.

I understand the sentiment, but don't agree with the expression completely. The spirit is certainly a good guide to appreciating the back brain. The spirit is however, not tied completely to our more brutal evolutionary heritage; the fore-brain makes contributions to it.
