How is Israel "OUR GREATEST ALLY"?

Please omit any discussion of "zionism" or anti semitism. I support a peaceful, two state solution. This isn't about being anti Israel.

I am seeking legitimate answers.

How is Israel our greatest ally?

Israel sent ZERO troops to help us in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Israel sent ZERO troops to help us in the Persian Gulf war....while half a dozen other middle east countries provided troops (saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, morocco, Kuwait, Pakistan, UAE)

Israel provided ZERO in aid following 9/11.

Israel provided ZERO in aid to the US after Katrina....while Afghanistan gave us money and aid.

Israel likely did not come to our aid during 9/11 because the consensus was that we were attacked because of our support of them. Did they offer assistance and we declined. Pretty damn dumb of you to think we would even allow Israel to join in a war against a Muslim nation

    Israel during Katrina

Israel: Offered field hospitals and hundreds of doctors, nurses, technicians and other experts in trauma, natural disasters and public health.

An Israeli airlift arrived in Little Rock, Arkansas with an eighty-ton shipment of humanitarian aid, including baby food, diapers, water, ready-to-eat meals, clothes, tents, blankets, mattresses, stretchers, first aid kits, wheelchairs, and other medical supplies.

The Magen David Adom began "United Brotherhood Operation," which sent a plane-load of supplies and financial assistance.

IsraAid sent a delegation of medical personnel, psychologists, and experienced search-and-rescue divers.

The 18-member team — which included physicians, mental health professionals, trauma specialists, logistics experts and a special unit of Israeli police divers — arrived in St. Bernard Parish and Plaquemines Parish on Sept. 10 and spent a week and a half assisting fire department search-and-rescue squads and sitting in on daily planning meetings that included local leadership and a complement of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), police, military and fire representatives medical team.

Five universities in Israel welcomed displaced American students from the affected areas and invited both undergraduate and graduate students to continue their studies in Israel.

In particular, medical students unable to attend the Tulane University in New Orleans can attend Tel Aviv University's Sackler School of Medicine.

There was no Israel prior to 1948. However, Palestinian Jews fought on our side during WWII. The Muslim Grand Mufti spent the war in Berlin. In regards to Viet Nam, France invited us in, not the other way around. Korea and Viet Nam should never have been "our wars." If we had not supported corrupt and oppressive dictators, there would never have been a foothold for Communism in either country. Israel involvement in any war in the Middle East would have caused the whole Arab world to unify against us, not just Iraq. We would not have wanted their support. Israel accepted and assimilated millions of Jewish refugees, something they would not have been able to do without government spending and government housing. Neither can you argue that the Jewish economy is a failure because they don't own cars. They have several options for transportation that are probably more economically and environmentally sound for a small country. Nothing says that lack of car somehow implies poverty. Their economy is their choice. It is those choices that have made their citizenry arguably better off than the average Arab. And I am not sure just what their economy or Britain's carriers or France's debt rating have to do with have to do with reliability. S&P rates Israel's economy as A+ and cites the geopolitical risks to Israel as a primary reason it is not higher. We, France, and Britain do not live with avowed enemies surrounding us. And Britain and France now have the same warnings from S&P we received prior to a downgrade. And if we do abandon Israel as an ally, just who do you recommend as a more reliable ally in the Middle East?

    1. I am not aware of anyone who has ever claimed Israel is "our greatest ally".

    2. How would Isreal contributing troops in Iraq and Afghanistan "help"? Don't you think having the much-hated "Zionist infidels" fighting alongside us would have done orders-of-magnitude damage to our cause? I mean seriously!!!!!

    3. Isreal was asked - begged really - not to partake in Operation Desert Storm for the same very obvious reasons I alluded to in answer #2. Isreali participation would have destroyed the coalition instantly. Anyone with a functioning brain knows that.

    4. Why would we expect Isreal to provide aid after 9/11?

    5. Why would we expect Israel to provide aid for Katrina? Did the British? The French? The German's? The Japanese? They are all much closer allies than Israel.

I'm sorry but this is just another in a long line of pointless Jew-hating rants that get posted around here and you are nothing but an irrational bigot.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

Israel is a stable Democracy and stanch friend of the US in the heart of of Middle East. If there was a coup overnight in Israel, the new government would still be a friend of the US.

Israel sending troops to aid coalition forces would exacerbate political problems, not help them. During the Gulf War. Saddam fired Scud missiles at Israel to provoke them an create the above situation. Instead of doing this, which would have been their right, as so not to hurt the coalition efforts, they took the attacks and simply accepted US Patriot missile batteries for defense.

    Israel Is Our Ally

Israel is our greatest ally specifically in the Middle East. It is the only country in that area that is a Western Democracy. Israel would be okay with a two-state solution, but Palestine's plan for one would make it so Israel is surrounded on all sides and as a result completely indefensible. So Palestine's two-state solution isn't peaceful since they want it set up in a way that allows them to invade Israel.

Palestinians are the cull of the arab nations. They were a nomadic displaced population. You should back up your claims! You lie, only because you are stupid. For that, i give you a pass. Go play checkers.
