    3x + 8y = 4

    8y = -3x + 4 Subtract 3x from both sides

    y = (-3/8)x + (1/2) Divide by 8 on both sides

    m = (-3/8)

    b = (1/2)

    solve for y.

    3x + 8y =4

    -3x from both sides

    8y=4-3x

    divide by 8

    y=-3/8x+4/8

    y= -3/8x + 1/2
