Why should the rich get any Social Security benefits?

Social Security shouldn't even exist. There should just be welfare for the poor and that's it.

If someone is poor, elderly and unable to work, that person can get welfare.

*that person should get welfare.

Update 2:

So what? Consider it an extra tax they didn't know they were paying.

Update 3:

I do, dumba$$. It comes out of my check every two weeks.

Social Security is a government mandated retirement fund.

All who pay into it should be eligible for its benefits.

Social Security is an old-age insurance plan, not a tax. If it was a tax it never would have passed in the first place. Since it is an insurance, it can not be means tested. If you think it is a tax, then I paid taxes on my "tax" deductions for 45 years, and since that is unconstitutional, I want a refund of the taxes I paid on my Social Security contributions for all those years.

They shouldn't, and nobody else should get Welfare or Social Security.

    They pay into the system.

From your lack of understanding of Social Security, I would guess that you do not.

I agree! (in part) SS should never have existed. However, if they pay into it, they get the benny.
