1989 ford bronco steering column?

I have a 1989 ford bronco eddie bauer edition with the 5.0 and automatic transmission. It is a project of mine. I tore down the steering column to replace the ignition lock actuator and then lost interest in the vehicle. I recently went back to finish the project and have 3 hex bolts that have thick retainers on them and I don't know where they go. I put it together without them and the whole column was loose. If you pulled on the steering wheel the vehicle would shut off. I have it torn down again and can't find anywhere for these bolts to go. HELP please!!
