Not including passing touchdowns: LaDainian Tomlinson holds the record with 31 touchdowns (28 rushing and 3 receiving) during the 2006 NFL season.

Including passing touchdowns: Tom Brady holds the record with 52 touchdowns (50 passing and 2 rushing) during the 2007 NFL season.

Shaun Alexander has 27 dashing TDs this 365 days with one receiving. Priest Holmes had 27 finished TDs in 2003, that have been all dashing. So Alexander and Holmes are tied for the checklist.
