idk which temp sensor you're referring to. so,,,,,,,
there is an engine temp sensor on the side of the engine block that could give erroneous info to the gauge. not really an over heat condition.
then there's a radiator/fan coolant control switch on the side of the radiator itself. it turns the fan on. it's outside the computer loop. so if the fan *behind* (not the one in front of the radiator-that only comes on when a/c is selected) doesn't turn on when the temp rises, that's going to be the issue. either the sensor on the radiator, fan motor, or wires/connectors going to it. it also has a relay and fuse that's located in the black box just off the battery. position is labeled on the lid of the box. check or replace that.
